CalWORKs Emergency Payment Program

The CalWORKs Emergency Payment Program offers assistance to active CalWORKs participants, and retention participants (those who have left in good standing less than one year ago) in many ways.  The project provides advocacy, referrals, and guidance for participants who are dealing with merchants, mechanics, service providers, landlords, etc. to negotiate purchases, contracts, service agreements, etc.  Participants are also given information about food banks, rental assistance programs, energy assistance programs, or legal and consumer advocacy services, among others.  Lastly, the project supplies the emergency supportive service payments, which have been previously authorized by CalWORKs staff.
