The opening episode, "Four Decades" will provide an overview of the War on Poverty and will feature:

1)      Christine Johnson-Lyons has been the Executive Director of the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Inc. (CAB Inc.) since 1986.  She played a critical role in rebuilding the agency’s presence as well as significantly expanding its services and advocacy.   She is a Pajaro Valley resident since 1975 and an active member of groups working on behalf of social equity including, the City of Santa Cruz Living Wage Advisory Committee, the Santa Cruz County Health Care Outreach Coalition and Action Pajaro Valley.

2)      George “Bud” Winslow, former Director of the Multi Purpose Training Center at the University of Missouri.  Mr. Winslow supervised the initial training, in 1966, of Community Action Agency staff and Board in the eleven state North Central Region for the Office of Economic Opportunity.  He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Action Board, a Senior Senator in the California Senior Legislature and a member of the Santa Cruz County Seniors Commission.

The host and CAB Inc. producer of the series, Paul Rachuy Brindel, has been in public service since 1968 as a teacher, a principal, a day care director, and an administrator of non-profit private corporations.  He is an Interfaith Minister and a Videographer.  He has been a program director at the Community Action Board since 1989 and has lived on the Central Coast of California since 1972.  He was a radio talk show host on KSCO for three years.  He served as the Foreperson of the United States Grand Jury from June 2000 through June of 2001 and currently serves on the Board of Commissioners of The Santa Cruz County Housing Authority, The HIV Consortium Board, Affordable Housing Advocates, and the City of Santa Cruz Housing Element Advisory Committee.
