The Status of Poverty in Santa Cruz County, 2005 - This report will provide our readers with an understanding of the status and nature of the circumstances that are driving some Santa Cruz County residents into poverty, some others out of the County, and how the programs administered and the advocacy conducted by the Community Action Board are helping some avoid falling further into poverty. Housing and Homelessness in Santa Cruz County, 2005 - It is little wonder that the high cost of housing continues to be the primary driving force of poverty in California.” So begins a new report from the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Inc. The Housing Element – A Progressive Approach - This report, endorsed by CAB, INC., has been prepared by the Progressive Housing Advocates Task Force (PHAT), a broad-based coalition of individuals and community groups dedicated to the development of affordable housing for low, very low income and extremely low income people throughout Santa Cruz County. PHAT includes representatives of environmental groups, as well as advocates for the disabled, for homeless persons, for farmworkers, for children and seniors, and for low-wage workers who live and work in Santa Cruz County.
